The 'Gyeonggi Province Community Financial Welfare Support Center,' which provides support for debt adjustment such as personal bankruptcy and rehabilitation, opened on the first floor of the Icheon City Job Center on July 1. With this addition, the number of support centers in the province has increased to 20.
The Icheon Center operates five days a week with one professional counselor stationed on site. It offers free, customized financial welfare counseling services for financially vulnerable groups, including debt adjustment support, financial planning, and linkage to welfare services.
Gyeonggi Province explained that the Icheon Center was established to address regional imbalances and improve counseling accessibility for residents in the southeastern region. In particular, Icheon City actively cooperated by providing the space and supporting interior renovations, which enabled the center to open quickly.
Since its opening in July 2015, the Gyeonggi Province Community Financial Welfare Support Center has provided 206,611 cases of financial and welfare counseling services, such as debt adjustment and financial counseling, to 98,334 individuals as of May this year.
Kim Hana, Director of Welfare for Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The expansion of local centers is not simply an increase in numbers, but a valuable starting point that brings real change to the lives of residents." She added, "We will continue to build a robust financial welfare network so that all residents can easily access counseling services."
