Mayor Joo Kwangdeok: "We Will Actively Promote Economic Revitalization Policies" Joo Kwangdeok, mayor of Namyangju City, visited the 'Dasan Book Path Picnic Market' organized by the Dasan Merchants Association around Jeong Yak-yong Library in Dasan-dong on the 29th to encourage event organizers. This event was promoted in connection with Gyeonggi Province’s public contest projects, including the Alleyway Business District Growth Support Project and the Gyeonggi Economic Revitalization Big Sale Project. The total project budget was approximately 10 million won, including provincial government funding and self-contributions from the merchants association.

Focusing on providing tangible consumer benefits that citizens could directly experience and laying the foundation for local economic recovery, the event featured a variety of programs centered around the intersection near the Dasan-dong Court and Prosecutors’ Office. These included citizen experience programs, promotional activities for local stores, and prize draw events.

Despite the hot weather, more than 200 citizens visited the event site. The event received a great response, with a 20% cashback promotion that provided a 10,000-won Onnuri gift certificate for purchases over 50,000 won, in addition to prize draws.

Mayor Joo Kwangdeok visited the event to encourage the merchants and communicated with citizens who actively participated. He also expressed his gratitude to the organizers and others who worked hard to prepare and run the event.

Mayor Joo Kwangdeok of Namyangju City stated, "It is highly meaningful that the merchants association independently promoted such a significant event by linking public contest projects, allowing both citizens and merchants to experience real benefits." He added, "We will continue to actively implement policies to revitalize the local economy so that citizens can receive better products and services and invigorate the local business district."

He further emphasized, "We are focusing administrative efforts on the railway covering and upper park development project for the Gyeongui-Jungang Line, which will connect the divided urban areas of Dasan-dong." He continued, "By creating a three-dimensional complex cultural space and establishing Korea’s first indoor garden-style park, we plan to develop the Dasan-dong area into Namyangju’s leading commercial and cultural hub."

Meanwhile, the Dasan Merchants Association is working to revitalize the local economy based on its own business district network and collaborative system. In the second half of the year, it plans to continue with follow-up events linked to the Alleyway Business District Growth Support Project.
