Hanyang University ERICA Ranks 12th Globally in THE 'Life Below Water' Assessment

Proving Global Competitiveness in the Field of Sustainability

Hanyang University ERICA announced on July 2 that it ranked 12th in the world in the 'SDG 14: Life Below Water' category of the '2025 THE Impact Rankings,' published by the global university assessment organization Times Higher Education (THE).

This marks the first time a Korean university has entered the global top 20 in this category.


The ERICA Department of Marine Convergence Engineering is leading advanced interdisciplinary research in a variety of fields, including marine environment and ecosystem diagnostics, prediction of marine impacts due to climate change, and disaster prevention based on coastal engineering.


In addition, the 'Global Research Center for Marine Material Circulation Processes,' led by the Department of Marine Convergence Engineering, was selected for the Science Research Center (SRC) support program organized by the National Research Foundation of Korea and the Ministry of Science and ICT.


Moon Hyobang, head of the ERICA Department of Marine Convergence Engineering and director of the Ansan Green Environment Center, stated, "Through our department and center, we will continue to promote sustainable growth of local industries and industrial complexes, and play a central role in solving regional environmental issues."
