"A tense and morally harrowing drama"
Production company Hive Media Corp announced on June 30 that director Hur Jin-ho's film "A Normal Family" has been selected as one of Variety's "10 Best Movies of 2025." The list highlights outstanding films screened in North America during the first half of the year, and "A Normal Family" is the only Korean film to be included.
The film is a thriller based on Dutch author Herman Koch's bestselling novel "The Dinner." It depicts the psychological breakdown of two upper-class couples as they confront the criminal acts committed by their children. The cast includes Sol Kyung-gu, Jang Dong-gun, Kim Hee-ae, and Soo Hyun.
Variety described the film as "a tense and morally harrowing drama," stating that "it will grip audiences from the very first scene."
In addition to "A Normal Family," the list features titles such as "Mission: Impossible ? Dead Reckoning," "28 Years Later," "Sinners," "Bring Her Back," and "Black Bag."
