Joohoon Lee of the Gwangju City Council has been elected as the floor leader of the People Power Party. Lee previously served as the chair of the Urban Environment Committee in the first half of the 9th council and is currently a member of the Administrative Welfare Committee. He was nominated for the floor leader position based on his extensive legislative experience and stable leadership.
Lee has continued citizen-centered legislative activities by demonstrating a deep understanding of local issues and proposing practical policies. He is regarded as a suitable candidate to lead balanced operation and cooperation within the council. In particular, the coordination experience and ability to respond to issues that he gained as committee chair in the first half contributed to the high level of trust in this election process.
Upon being elected as floor leader, Lee stated, "With a strong sense of responsibility, I will strengthen communication with fellow party members to carry out more productive legislative activities," adding, "I will continue to focus on developing policies and improving systems that benefit citizens, and will faithfully fulfill my role as the central pillar of the People Power Party."
Gwangju City Council plans to continue fulfilling its role as a responsible local council that works together with citizens, based on close communication and cooperation among its members.
