Increased Likelihood of Project Success with Verified Economic Feasibility
Jung Myunggeun: "We Will Focus Administrative Efforts on Subsequent Procedures"
The project to establish the tentative Solbitnaru Station on the Dongtan-Indeogwon Line, promoted by Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province, has passed the feasibility review by the National Railway Authority.
On June 30, Hwaseong City announced that at the final feasibility review meeting for the establishment of Solbitnaru Station, held at the Metropolitan Headquarters of the National Railway Authority on June 27, the benefit-cost (B/C) ratio for the project was reviewed to be 1 or higher. A B/C ratio above 1 means that the benefits of the project outweigh its costs.
Solbitnaru Station is a proposed new station on the Dongtan-Indeogwon Line's connecting section, linked to the extension project between Seodongtan and Dongtan on Line 1 of the Gyeongbu Line. Once established, residents near the station will be able to travel directly to major hubs such as Seoul Station and Suwon Station on Line 1 without transfers. In addition, the station will connect with the planned GTX-C Byeongjeom Station, as well as SRT, GTX-A, and Dongtan Station on the Dongtan-Indeogwon Line.
The project will be carried out under the "cost-bearer pays" principle, with Hwaseong City covering the expenses. The city explained that, since projects under this principle can only proceed if economic viability is ensured, passing the feasibility review has provided momentum for the project.
Based on the successful feasibility review, the city plans to smoothly carry out subsequent administrative procedures, including obtaining project approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, signing consignment agreements with related agencies, and conducting investment reviews for budget allocation.
Hwaseong Mayor Jung Myunggeun stated, "Improving transportation convenience and building rail infrastructure are key tasks for the city's continued development," adding, "We will focus our administrative efforts to ensure that subsequent procedures proceed smoothly."
