Ando Geol Appointed to National Assembly Budget Committee for Second Consecutive Term

"All-out Efforts to Pass the Second Supplementary Budget
for Overcoming the Livelihood Crisis"

Ando Geol, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea representing Gwangju Dongnam-eul, has been appointed as a member of the National Assembly Special Committee on Budget and Accounts for the second consecutive term with the launch of the 22nd National Assembly.

From the early days of the 22nd National Assembly, Ando has served as a subcommittee member of the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts. On December 3, 2024, even under the situation of the 12·3 martial law declaration, he played a leading role in swiftly passing the main budget bill for 2025.

This year, he has consistently raised the need for a supplementary budget (extra budget) to overcome the economic downturn and the livelihood crisis. As a result, he played a key role in passing the first supplementary budget, totaling 13.8 trillion won, at the National Assembly plenary session on May 1.

In addition, for the second supplementary budget proposal submitted to the National Assembly on June 23, Ando took the lead in ensuring that 281.3 billion won was allocated for major projects in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions. He also achieved meaningful results in securing fiscal resources for addressing local issues and economic recovery.

On June 30, Ando stated, "As a policy expert, I feel a great sense of responsibility," adding, "I will actively support the Lee Jaemyung administration so that it can overcome the economic crisis through strategic fiscal management and advance as a leading nation in the AI economy."

Ando also emphasized, "I will fulfill my responsibilities to the end so that the second supplementary budget, which will revitalize the economy for people's livelihoods in crisis, can swiftly pass the National Assembly and be timely deployed to the field."
