Na Kyungwon Responds to 'Well-Being Protest' Criticism: "President Lee Ate Food Openly"

Na Kyungwon Criticizes Lee Jaemyung's "Commuting Well-Being Hunger Strike"
Questions Sincerity of Lee's Protest, Calls Out Double Standards

Regarding criticism from the ruling party that Representative Na Kyungwon's sit-in protest resembles "camping or a vacation," Na responded by referencing past controversy over President Lee Jaemyung's hunger strike, raising her voice and asking, "If eating gimbap and holding an overnight sit-in is a vacation, then what was Lee Jaemyung's commuting well-being hunger strike show?"

Na Kyungwon Responds to 'Well-Being Protest' Criticism: "President Lee Ate Food Openly" On September 1, 2023, Lee Jaemyung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, is speaking at the Supreme Council meeting held in the hunger strike tent in front of the National Assembly main building. On the 29th, Na stated on her Facebook page, "Representative Park Honggeun of the Democratic Party of Korea perfectly demonstrates the DNA of hypocrisy and double standards of the Lee Jaemyung Democratic Party administration," making these remarks.

Previously, Park Honggeun criticized Na for launching a sit-in protest demanding the withdrawal of Kim Minseok's nomination for Prime Minister and the return of the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee chairmanship, saying, "A 'residential sit-in' that is neither a hunger strike nor an overnight protest is a rare sight."

On the 28th, Park wrote on his Facebook page, "(Na) eats well-being gimbap, drinks Starbucks coffee, and turns on a desk fan because it's hot," adding, "It is a severe irony that someone who supported and defended the traitor Yoon Sukyeol now talks about cooperation. It seems she has a talent for deliberately picking out the most disagreeable behaviors one by one."

In response, Na brought up the 2023 controversy over President Lee Jaemyung's hunger strike, saying, "Instead of looking at the hypocrisy of the Democratic Party under Lee Jaemyung, who commuted to and from a well-being hunger strike while agitating about Fukushima contaminated water and openly mocking the public by eating food, you should reflect on yourselves."

She continued, "We must restore normalcy to a world where criminals mock the innocent, refuse to stand trial, and openly seize control of the judiciary, and where anti-democratic destroyers of the rule of law falsely claim to stand for democracy and justice."

Na also posted a link to an article titled "Lee Jaemyung's Well-Being Hunger Strike? Only 12 hours a day... What was in the thermos?" The article covers how, during Lee Jaemyung's indefinite hunger strike as Democratic Party leader in 2023, the People Power Party criticized it as a "well-being hunger strike" and a "commuting hunger strike." The article also notes that some questioned whether it was truly a hunger strike, as Lee was seen drinking from a thermos or eating something with a teaspoon.

At the time, the Democratic Party explained that the thermos contained warm water. They also stated that Lee was consuming salt due to his weakened physical condition.
