The Third Companion Dog Playground
Opens in Seongdong-gu, Covering 600㎡
Seongdong-gu in Seoul has opened the 'Yongdap Companion Dog Playground' within Jeonnong Ecological Stream (182 Yongdap-dong). This marks the third dedicated facility for companion dogs introduced by Seongdong-gu, following the 'Companion Dog Rest Area' in 2021 and the 'Songjeong Companion Dog Playground' in 2023.

The Yongdap Companion Dog Playground covers an area of 600 square meters and is divided into zones for large dogs and small-to-medium dogs, based on a shoulder height of 40 centimeters. The playground is equipped with amenities such as play equipment for dogs, waste bag dispensers, sunshades, and benches, as well as safety features including double gates and closed-circuit (CC) TV cameras. Notably, the entire area is covered with artificial turf to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for dogs to run and play.
The playground is open to companion dogs that have completed animal registration and their guardians aged 13 or older. It is available 24 hours a day, year-round. However, it may be temporarily closed in the event of severe weather conditions such as heavy rain or snow.
The district held an opening ceremony on June 26, officially launching the playground's operation. The event was attended by more than 150 people, including the Companion Dog Patrol and local dog owners. Various activity booths, such as a dog walking class, health consultation booth, and tug toy making, were also available to enhance the experience.
Jung Wono, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, "We have established the 'Yongdap Companion Dog Playground' with the belief that companion dogs are precious family members who share our daily lives. We will continue to provide support and attention to help foster a healthy companion animal culture."
