Gyeonggi Province is launching an "Employment Crisis Response Project" to support workers and companies in industries where employment slowdowns are a concern, such as the automobile parts manufacturing sector.
On June 30, Gyeonggi Province announced that it had secured 2.2 billion won in national funding after being selected for the Ministry of Employment and Labor's additional regional job project, the "Employment Slowdown Response Support Project." Gyeonggi Province will implement the "Employment Crisis Response Project" with a total budget of 2.75 billion won, including national funding.
This project focuses on strengthening employment stability and welfare for the automobile parts manufacturing industry and other machinery and equipment manufacturing sectors, where employment has slowed or is expected to slow due to changes in domestic and international economic conditions and ongoing economic stagnation.
In particular, customized support will be provided to workers and companies in manufacturing sectors facing difficulties due to the strengthening of protectionist policies in the United States and sluggish domestic demand.
The main support programs are divided into the "Employee Support Package" and the "Company Security Package." The Employee Support Package provides up to 1 million won per person for health care, including health checkups, psychological counseling, and pharmaceutical purchases, targeting employees working in industries experiencing employment slowdowns.
The Company Security Package offers up to 5 million won per company to cover public utility costs such as electricity and gas bills, various insurance premiums, and the purchase of industrial safety supplies, targeting companies in industries with employment slowdowns.
The program targets a total of 2,000 employees and 90 companies with fewer than 300 regular employees.
Gyeonggi Province expects that this support program will help prevent employee turnover in industries with employment slowdowns, strengthen the health and safety of workers, and enhance the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector. The province also aims to improve business stability for companies and create a sustainable employment environment.
Bae Jingi, Director of Job and Economic Policy at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "This 'Gyeonggi Province Employment Crisis Response Project' is an emergency support measure for industries struggling due to changes in internal and external conditions," adding, "We hope it will serve as a pillar of support for manufacturing workers and companies in the province."
