LG Uplus Named Inaugural Chair Company of Global Quantum Standards Alliance 'QuINSA'

LG Uplus announced on June 29 that it has been selected as the inaugural chair company of QuINSA (Quantum INdustrial Standard Association), a private alliance promoting global quantum technology standardization. The chair position will be held by Joo Eomgae, Executive Vice President of LG Uplus Wired Business.


QuINSA is a global private consultative body supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT, with participation from the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA), the Quantum Convergence Industry Center (QCI), and others. Since 2023, it has been operating with the goal of standardizing technologies across industries such as quantum communication, sensors, and computing. Recently, the government announced a plan to transition the security system to post-quantum cryptography (PQC) by 2035. In recognition of LG Uplus being the first to introduce PQC in a commercial environment, the company was recommended as the chair company.

At the first international general meeting held on June 25 at El Tower in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, more than 100 representatives from domestic and international telecommunications and quantum technology companies and organizations attended to discuss technical seminars and standardization strategies. Going forward, QuINSA plans to hold regular general meetings, organize standard drafts by technical subcommittees, and propose them to international standardization organizations such as ITU-T, a telecommunications standardization sector under the United Nations, as well as the International Organization for Standardization and the International Electrotechnical Commission (ISO/IEC).


Executive Vice President Joo stated, "We are entering an era where the private sector leads the international standardization of quantum technology," adding, "As the chair company of QuINSA, LG Uplus will leverage its proven technological capabilities and commercialization experience to expand the global ecosystem through public-private collaboration and deliver differentiated customer value."
