A Venue of Passion and Unity for Taekwondo Practitioners in Namyangju
Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Kwangdeok), announced on the 29th that it held the '19th Namyangju Mayor's Taekwondo Tournament 2025' at the Namyangju Sports and Culture Center indoor gymnasium on the 28th.

This tournament was organized with the goals of improving Taekwondo skills, promoting citizens' health, and revitalizing community sports.
The opening ceremony was attended by key figures including Joo Kwangdeok, mayor of Namyangju; Lee Jeongae, vice chairperson of the Namyangju City Council; city council members; Yoon Sunghyun, president of the Namyangju Sports Council; and Kang Singwan, president of the Namyangju Taekwondo Association. They encouraged the athletes and pledged continued interest and support for the promotion of local sports and the expansion of the Taekwondo foundation.
The tournament consisted of individual, doubles, team, and champion of champions events, with over 1,050 athletes of various ages competing to demonstrate their skills.
Mayor Joo Kwangdeok stated, "Taekwondo is the national sport of Korea and a globally recognized sport. I expect that this tournament will not only promote harmony between generations but also expand citizen participation in community sports," adding, "Namyangju City will continue to provide administrative support so that children, adolescents, and young adults can pursue their dreams through Taekwondo."
President Kang Singwan said, "The passion and effort of each participant will become the cornerstone of Taekwondo development in Namyangju," and added, "The association will continue to work hard so that Taekwondo can establish itself as a representative community sport in the region."
