The Yangsan City Family Center in Gyeongnam received the Grand Prize in the '2025 Excellence Project Contest' held among 19 family centers within Gyeongnam Province.
The award ceremony took place at the Busan-Gyeongnam Excellence Project Briefing Session, which was held on June 10 at the Geumgok Office of the Busan Women's Family and Lifelong Education Promotion Institute. As a result of the contest, a total of three institutions were selected (one Grand Prize, two Excellence Prizes), with the Yangsan City Family Center being chosen as the Grand Prize winner.
The winning project was the '2024 Support Project for Bridging Growth Gaps of Adolescents with Immigrant Backgrounds,' which was planned by the Gyeongnam Community Chest of Korea. The project was highly praised for providing tailored and integrated services such as Korean language (TOPIK) classes, career exploration, and local tours to help adolescents with immigrant backgrounds adapt to Korean society at an early stage.
An official from the Yangsan City Family Center, who was in charge of the project, stated, "For adolescents with immigrant backgrounds to settle stably in Korean society, not only Korean language education and cultural experiences but also continuous support such as psychological and emotional counseling are necessary," and added, "We will work with schools and the local community to establish a care system so that these adolescents can grow as members of the community."
The official also expressed, "We hope that this award will serve as an opportunity to further expand support projects for adolescents with immigrant backgrounds in the province," and added, "Yangsan City Family Center plans to actively support the stable settlement and growth of adolescents through a sustainable and tailored support system."
