A Platform for Discussing Urban Future Strategies
with the Participation of Artificial Intelligence Experts
On June 27, Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Donggeun Kim) held an Artificial Intelligence Forum at the Grand Ballroom of Island Castle in Jangam-dong, under the theme "A Better Everyday Life with AI: Uijeongbu's Challenge to Open the Future."

This forum was organized to explore policy directions the city should pursue in the era of AI transformation and to foster cooperation among citizens, industry, academia, and related organizations. Various discussions took place, focusing on urban innovation strategies utilizing AI technology and measures to revitalize the local economy.
The event began with an opening speech by Mayor Donggeun Kim, followed by congratulatory remarks from the Vice Chair of the City Council and the Second Vice Governor of Gyeonggi Province. The first presentation, delivered by Professor Jaeboong Choi of Sungkyunkwan University, was titled "A Better Everyday Life with AI: Uijeongbu's Challenge to Open the Future," officially opening the forum.
Professor Choi presented concrete examples of how technology is transforming daily life and industry, and outlined the direction that AI-based administration should take for local governments.
The second presentation was given by Yooha Ahn, Director of the China Securities Administration Institute (CSAI), under the theme "In the Age of AI, Questioning the Future of Human-Centered Industries." Director Ahn offered insightful perspectives on the significance of uniquely human roles amid the rapid spread of AI technology, as well as on the restructuring of industrial frameworks.
The subsequent panel discussion was moderated by Professor Youngok Kang of Ewha Womans University, with both presenters participating as panelists, along with Aetti Kang, Head of Research at Hancom Inspace, and Sanghyun Lee, Head of the Digital-AI Ecosystem Research Office at the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade. The discussion delved deeply into concrete measures for AI-based administrative innovation, public-private cooperation models, and the need to expand citizen education.
The city plans to gradually implement AI-based policy development and pilot applications based on the topics presented at the forum. It also intends to continuously expand citizen-centered digital innovation through partnerships with private companies, universities, and research institutes.
Mayor Donggeun Kim stated, "This forum was a meaningful opportunity to reflect together with citizens on the changes that AI technology will bring and to set the direction the city should proactively prepare for. Going forward, we will focus our policy capabilities on practically applying artificial intelligence throughout all areas of administration."
