Im Taehee, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, has once again stated his opposition to the installation of a combined heat and power plant next to Hwaseong Banwol Elementary School.
On the 27th, Superintendent Im met with about 20 parents from Hwaseong who oppose the installation of the combined heat and power plant in the Hwaseong Jinan Public Housing District at Hwaseong Banwol Elementary School. He said, "I deeply empathize with the concerns raised by parents for the safety of students in this area," and added, "The safe educational environment for students must be prioritized, which is why I oppose the installation of a combined heat and power plant next to Hwaseong Banwol Elementary School."
He continued, "I will actively work with parents to resolve this issue," and added, "Since this is a matter that can only be resolved with the involvement of central government agencies, the provincial government, the city government, and Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), I will use the administrative experience I have accumulated over the years to help guide the way."

On this day, parents from Hwaseong delivered a petition opposing the installation of the combined heat and power plant next to Hwaseong Banwol Elementary School to Superintendent Im and requested active cooperation from the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education.
Currently, Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) is planning to develop a 4.52 million square meter public housing district in the Jinan, Banwol, and Gisan-dong areas of Hwaseong. The district will include 14 educational facilities: 4 kindergartens, 5 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, and 2 high schools.
In particular, parents are concerned about the deterioration of the educational environment, as the combined heat and power plant to be installed in this district will be only 51 meters away from Hwaseong Banwol Elementary School.
Previously, on the 20th, Superintendent Im stated on his social networking service (SNS), "Under no circumstances should any harm come to students," and added, "The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education opposes the plan to build a combined heat and power plant next to Hwaseong Banwol Elementary School."
