The Daejeon city government announced on the 27th that it held a conversation with citizens at Dongdaejeon Library in Dong-gu to mark the third anniversary of the 8th popularly elected administration, sharing changes in municipal administration and future tasks.

The event, held under the theme "Three Years Made Together, Opening the Future Together," was attended by about 120 people, including citizen reporters, young participants in city governance, and citizens recommended by district offices.

An interview video shown at the event highlighted the changes across Daejeon and the positive transformations citizens have experienced. During the following Q&A session, Mayor Lee Jangwoo responded to citizen questions on various topics, including the economy, transportation, culture, and welfare, explaining the policy directions and measures for each area.

Regarding support measures for small business owners, Mayor Lee stated, "We will strengthen support that can be tangibly felt, such as management stabilization funds, special guarantees, online market development, and revitalization of traditional markets."

On questions related to urban rail, he explained, "Construction of Line 2 tram is underway with the goal of opening in 2028. We are also implementing measures such as securing detour routes and providing alternative transportation to minimize inconvenience during the construction period."

He continued, "For Lines 3, 4, and 5, we have completed preliminary consultations with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and public hearings. We plan to proceed step by step with administrative procedures, including approval of the urban rail network construction plan, to improve accessibility for areas underserved by urban rail and promote balanced regional development."

Mayor Lee explained, "Construction of Daejeon Medical Center is underway with the goal of opening in 2027. The hospital will be established to guarantee citizens' right to health, focusing on essential public medical services such as emergency care and childbirth."

In response to a question about the "Daejeon-Chungnam Integration," he stressed, "Integration into 'Daejeon-Chungnam Special City' is necessary to improve administrative efficiency and service quality. With special authority, metropolitan administration in areas such as education, healthcare, transportation, and culture can become more systematic, and we can expect increased government support."

Mayor Lee Jangwoo stated, "The past three years have been a period of tangible changes and achievements that have improved citizens' quality of life under the vision of 'Daejeon as a First-Class Economic City.' Going forward, we will steadfastly pursue key tasks such as completing the science capital, establishing the foundation for a world-class economic city, and administrative integration of Daejeon and Chungnam."
