Kiwoom Securities Appoints Second-Generation Owner Kim Dongjun as Co-Chairman of the Board

According to a disclosure by the Korea Financial Investment Association on June 27, Kiwoom Securities held an extraordinary board meeting that morning and appointed CEO Kim Dongjun as co-chairman of the board.

This appointment comes approximately three months after he joined the board as an inside director at Kiwoom Securities in March of this year.

Born in 1984, Chairman Kim graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) with a degree in accounting and earned an MBA from Cornell University. He gained practical experience at Samil PricewaterhouseCoopers, Daou Technology, and Daou Data.

Within the group, he is recognized as an expert in global markets, including the United States, as well as in accounting. Accordingly, Chairman Kim is expected to play a key role in areas such as expansion into the U.S. market and risk management, including internal controls.

Through a disclosure, the company stated, "By appointing a co-chairman of the board, we can prevent the concentration of authority in a single chairman and enhance the transparency of board operations through prudent decision-making." The company added, "Given the expertise of each co-chairman, we expect to more effectively supervise the fulfillment of internal control management duties by the CEO and other executives."
