On this day, approximately 100 participants, including 74 students from the Department of Marine Production System Management, the Department of Fisheries and Ocean Industry Education, and the Department of Mechanical System Engineering, as well as 30 crew members, boarded the state-of-the-art training vessel Baekgyeongho (Captain Kim Suhyeong, 3,997 tons) to embark on a 32-day deep-sea sailing training following the departure ceremony.

National Pukyong University students will conduct practical navigation training until July 28, sailing in the East Sea and South Sea of Korea, as well as around Japan. They will receive on-site training in navigation, fishing operations, electronic communication operation, ship engine operation, and automatic control system operation, all of which comply with the STCW international convention for navigator and engineer education.

The itinerary also includes port calls at locations such as Hakata Port in Japan, where students will visit overseas universities and institutions to engage in exchange activities.

National Pukyong University began Korea's first deep-sea sailing training in 1957 and has continued the program for 69 sessions to date. This program is recognized as a training course for nurturing future talent in advanced marine and fisheries industries, leading Korea's marine and fisheries sector and producing figures such as honorary chairman Kim Jaecheol of Dongwon Group.

At the departure ceremony, President Bae Sanghoon stated, "Our university's deep-sea sailing training, now in its 69th year, has produced numerous talents in the fisheries and marine fields and has made significant contributions to national economic development and local communities. I hope you will experience many things abroad, carry the sense of mission as civilian diplomats, and always strive to enhance the nation's prestige with an attitude of inquiry and learning."
