Yeongyang County Community Security Council Delivers "Cool Summer Supplies" to 200 Households Vulnerable to Heatwaves

The Yeongyang County Community Security Council (Co-Chairs: Oh Dochang, Kim Gildong) personally delivered "Cool Summer Supplies" worth 20 million won to 200 households vulnerable to heatwaves on June 26, 2025, to help them spend a healthy and safe summer.

This initiative, which has been ongoing since 2017 by the Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea and the Yeongyang County Community Security Council, consists of items such as rayon blankets, Sevenberry (glucose) and probiotics, summer hats, Misugaru (1kg), antibacterial pack sets, and wet wipes (worth 100,000 won per set). Through the six township Community Security Councils, volunteers visited low-income elderly households and households with disabilities vulnerable to heatwaves, provided guidance on heatwave preparedness such as refraining from outdoor activities during heatwaves and drinking plenty of water, and played a proactive role in minimizing potential harm.

Ms. Jo, a resident of Yeongyang-eup (born in 1939), expressed her gratitude, saying, "It has been difficult to endure the tropical nights as it is hard to use cooling appliances in the hot summer, but with these essential supplies, I can now spend a cool and healthy summer."

Co-Chair Oh Dochang stated, "I am grateful to the members of the Community Security Council who deliver cool summer supplies every year and look after our neighbors to ensure no one is left out in the community," and added, "I hope that this year, too, the elderly and neighbors exhausted from the heat can enjoy a cool summer with these small gifts."
