The 'Seongseo Area Revitalization Research Association' of the Daegu Dalseo District Council held an interim report meeting for the 'Study on Revitalization Measures for the Seongseo Area in Dalseo District, Daegu' at 2:00 p.m. on June 26 in the main conference room of the council.
This meeting was organized to share the interim results of the ongoing research and to gather diverse opinions, with members of the research association and researchers from the research agency in attendance.
Members of the 'Seongseo Area Revitalization Research Association,' consisting of Daegu Dalseo District Council members, are attending the interim report meeting of the research project and taking a commemorative photo.
Lee Il, CEO of P.O.P Design Space, who gave the presentation, emphasized, "The Seongseo area is currently facing several local issues, including environmental problems caused by the industrial complex and incineration plant, slumification due to aging infrastructure, the risk of school closures due to a decrease in the school-age population, and the problem of long-neglected vacant land." He added, "It is necessary to divide the area into zones and expand customized infrastructure that leverages the unique characteristics of the region, such as the high proportion of young people and foreigners resulting from the presence of universities and the Seongseo Industrial Complex." The council members in attendance also presented various opinions, including ways to utilize idle resources and procedures for public contests.
Representative council member Kwon Sukja stated, "We will do our best to produce research results that can bridge regional gaps and maximize the potential of the Seongseo area by reflecting the opinions presented today and the content from the upcoming field visits to exemplary cases."
The 'Seongseo Area Revitalization Research Association' was launched in March by council members Kwon Sukja, Hwang Gukju, Park Jonggil, Do Haseok, and Kim Kiyeol, who represent constituencies in Seongseo, Daegu, with the goal of overcoming regional stagnation and developing growth strategies. The association plans to hold a final report meeting in September to propose concrete implementation measures and effective policies.
