Evaluation of 514 Establishments Over Five Months Starting in July
Incentives for Top-Rated Businesses
On June 27, the city of Yeongju announced that it will conduct a public hygiene service evaluation from July 1 to November 28 in order to raise the hygiene standards of local barber and beauty salons and provide citizens with cleaner and safer services.
This evaluation will target a total of 514 establishments, including 73 barber shops and 441 beauty salons in the region. Approximately 20 items will be inspected, including general information on each business, statutory compliance requirements, and recommended practices. An evaluation team composed of honorary public hygiene inspectors will visit each establishment in person to thoroughly assess the on-site conditions.
Based on the evaluation results, Yeongju City plans to classify hygiene levels into three grades: ▲Best (Green Grade, 90 points or higher), ▲Excellent (Yellow Grade, 80 to 89 points), and ▲General (White Grade, less than 80 points).
Establishments that receive the Best grade will be provided with incentives such as hygiene products. Among them, those in the top 10% of evaluation scores will have an 'Excellent Establishment Logo Sign' displayed, further strengthening their status as exemplary businesses that citizens can trust and use with confidence.
However, establishments that have failed to comply with statutory requirements or have a record of administrative sanctions within the past two years will be excluded from the Best grade.
Yeo Taehyun, head of the Health and Hygiene Division, stated, "This evaluation is more than a simple inspection; it is a system aimed at improving public hygiene in a way that citizens can truly feel," adding, "We hope this will serve as an opportunity to enhance the overall quality of the region's hygiene culture."
