On June 26 (local time), at Midland Country Club (par 70, 6,287 yards) in Midland, Michigan, USA, during the first round of the Dow Championship, a team event on the LPGA Tour with a total prize fund of 3.3 million dollars, they shot a 3-under-par 67 to tie for second place. Gemma Dryburgh (Scotland) and Cassie Porter (Australia) took the lead with a 4-under-par 66, while Baba Saki and Yoshida Yuri (both from Japan) were also tied for second place.
This tournament features 142 participants forming teams of two to compete for rankings. The first and third rounds are played in the foursomes format, where both players alternate shots with one ball. The second and fourth rounds use the four-ball format, where both players play their own balls and the better score on each hole counts as the team score.
The defending champions, Atthaya Thitikul (Thailand) and Lin Xiyu (China), finished the first round tied for eighth at 2-under-par 68. Park Geumgang and Yan Jing (China) tied for 15th at 1-under-par 69. Jeon Inji and Jennifer Song (USA), An Narin and Furue Ayaka, and Iwai Chisato and Iwai Akie (all from Japan) tied for 20th at even-par 72. Lydia Ko (New Zealand) and Danielle Kang (USA) tied for 32nd at 1-over-par 71, while Park Sunghyun and Yoon Ina finished the first round tied for 38th at 2-over-par 72.
