Chairperson of Korea Importers Association Meets with German and C?te d'Ivoire Ambassadors to Korea

"Discussing Ways to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation"

The Korea Importers Association announced on the 26th that on the 25th, it held meetings with Georg Schmidt, German Ambassador to Korea, and Allou Wanyou Eugene Bitti, Ambassador of C?te d'Ivoire to Korea, to discuss ways to strengthen trade cooperation with each country.


First, Youngmi Yoon, Chairperson of the Korea Importers Association, met with Ambassador Schmidt at the German Embassy in Korea to discuss measures to expand trade between the two countries. Ambassador Schmidt expressed hope that, amid the spread of protectionism and increasing global uncertainty, the two countries would work closely together to expand trade. He also requested that the association actively address the issue of non-tariff barriers, which has been identified as a major obstacle in bilateral trade.

In response, Chairperson Yoon stated, "Germany is an important trade partner with potential for cooperation in various fields, including technology, food, and energy. Its significance has become even more prominent in terms of consumer price stability and strengthening global supply chains." She added that she hopes to broaden the scope of cooperation through cultural exchanges that combine food and beverages from both countries.


In the afternoon, Chairperson Yoon met with Ambassador Allou Wanyou Eugene Bitti of C?te d'Ivoire in the association's reception room to discuss ways to boost trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. Ambassador Bitti stated, "C?te d'Ivoire is a key African country with high growth potential in various sectors, including fruit, raw materials, and mineral resources." He also expressed hope to strengthen the trade foundation by expanding transportation infrastructure between the two countries and to solidify a strategic partnership.


In response, Chairperson Yoon said, "I hope that improvements in transportation and infrastructure will further vitalize trade between the two countries," and added, "The association will actively work to expand trade with C?te d'Ivoire and other African countries."
