The Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry has expressed its support for President Lee Jaemyung's announcement that the government will take the lead in integrating and relocating both the civilian and military airports in Gwangju.

On the 26th, the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry issued a statement, saying, "At the 'President Lee Jaemyung Listens to the Heart of Honam' meeting held in Gwangju the previous day, President Lee announced that the government would take the initiative in integrating and relocating the civilian and military airports in Gwangju." The statement added, "He mentioned the possibility of government-level financial support and emphasized that Jeollanam-do must also share joint responsibility for the airport relocation."

The statement continued, "This decision by the President goes beyond a simple administrative announcement; it will serve as a starting point for mutual growth and a historic turning point that can resolve regional conflicts and allow Gwangju and Jeollanam-do to leap forward together. We will pool all the capabilities and wisdom of the local community to actively support the government's commitment to this project."

It also stated, "Now, Gwangju has the opportunity to innovate the city by utilizing the airport site, and Jeollanam-do can lay the foundation to become a major regional hub by revitalizing the international airport. We hope that the airport relocation will no longer be a symbol of conflict, but instead become the starting line for a future where we can all move forward together with optimism."

The Chamber added, "Until now, the issue of airport relocation has been marked by promises and postponements, misunderstandings and disconnections. However, the President's decision is a symbol of warm communication and responsible leadership that enables local residents to restore trust and discuss the future together." "We hope that all future procedures will be conducted fairly and transparently, and above all, that the process will unite the hearts of local residents."
