President Lee Jaemyung expressed his condolences to the bereaved family who lost their children in the fire in Jin-gu, Busan. President Lee emphasized, "We will thoroughly investigate the cause of the accident to ensure that such a tragedy never happens again."


On June 26, through his social media account, President Lee stated, "I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved family who lost their two beloved children at once in the fire that occurred in Jin-gu, Busan."


President Lee said, "My heart breaks at the fact that two sisters, only ten and seven years old, left us before they could even begin to realize their bright futures. I cannot begin to fathom the pain of the parents, who had to leave their young children behind and head to work early in the morning due to difficult circumstances," he mourned.


President Lee continued, "Even in the midst of overwhelming grief, the bereaved family made the decision to donate their children's organs. I bow my head in deep respect for this noble act, which has given hope to another life." He added, "I promise to do everything in my power to ensure there is not the slightest neglect in protecting the lives and safety of our people."


According to the Busanjin Police Station, on the 24th, a fire broke out at an apartment in Jin-gu, Busan, while the parents were out early in the morning for cleaning work. As a result, a 10-year-old child died of suffocation, and the younger sibling, a 7-year-old who was receiving treatment, also passed away.
