According to the city, the Lotte Mart Guri branch occupies the first and second floors (totaling 14,495 square meters, or 4,385 pyeong) of Building A (Haliljeom-dong) at the Guri Distribution Complex Market. The first floor is dedicated to a fresh market for agricultural, marine, and livestock products, while the second floor features spaces such as a cultural center and a franchise buffet, allowing visitors to eat, enjoy, and experience various activities. The city explained that this layout is designed to provide the optimal shopping culture.
To address the shortage of space for daily necessities, a directly operated Daiso store will open on the third floor in August. In addition, the city stated that, in order to support small business owners who suffered damage from Citizen Mart (formerly L Mart), the new Lotte Mart Guri branch will play a complementary role by working in conjunction with the food court and sales facilities.
In his congratulatory remarks at the opening ceremony, Baek Kyunghyun, mayor of Guri, said, "With the reopening of Lotte Mart Guri branch today, I hope that the inconvenience citizens have experienced due to the absence of a large supermarket in the area will be resolved. I also expect that the commercial district around the wholesale market intersection, including Lotte Outlet, Lotte Himart, Guri Wholesale Market, and Donggureung Station, will be revitalized together."
Meanwhile, during the previous mayor's term, Citizen Mart (formerly L Mart), which had been attracted to the area, failed to meet citizens' needs as a large supermarket due to poor management and also caused issues such as overdue rent and management fees. As a result, the city terminated the contract, brought Lotte Mart back, and worked to ensure an early reopening.
