Driver's License Revoked for Drunk Driving
Two Households Inconvenienced for 40 Minutes
In the early morning of June 26, a drunk driving incident in Buk-gu, Gwangju resulted in a car crashing into a roadside transformer, causing a temporary power outage in a nearby apartment complex.
According to the Bukbu Police Station in Gwangju, at approximately 3:41 a.m. that day, a sedan driven by a woman in her 40s, identified as A, crossed over to the opposite lane and crashed into an above-ground transformer near the Yeonje intersection in Buk-gu. The collision damaged the transformer and caused a power outage affecting about 860 households in the surrounding apartments. Among them, 2 households experienced a power cut for about 40 minutes until Korea Electric Power Corporation completed the replacement work.
Immediately after the accident, A sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital. Police investigation revealed that A was under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol concentration at a level warranting license revocation.
The police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
