Evaluation of Lesson Planning and Child-Centered Interaction
Third-Year Student Lee Semin Wins Grand Prize
The Department of Early Childhood Education at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President: Kim Youngdo, Department Chair: Jwa Seunghwa) held a "Mock Activity Research Competition" on June 14 to strengthen the teaching capabilities of prospective early childhood teachers.
This competition was organized to assess, at a practical level, the ability to design and implement play-based classes centered on young children. The event featured enthusiastic competition among current students of the Department of Early Childhood Education. A total of 30 lesson activity plans were submitted, and six teams that passed the preliminary round advanced to the finals.
The final round was judged by Ahn Hyejong, Director of Nol-E-Ayu Kindergarten (Chief Judge), and Yoon Misook, Director of Hansarang Kindergarten. They rigorously evaluated the teams based on criteria such as lesson content structure, delivery skills, and interaction with children, all from the perspective of actual early childhood education settings.
As a result, third-year student Lee Semin received the Grand Prize for outstanding lesson design skills and child-centered interaction. The Gold Prize went to third-year student Park Sojin. The Silver Prize was awarded to second-year student Kang Haneul and third-year student Jeon Yena, while the Bronze Prize went to third-year students Jeon Yoonjung and Koo Junghwa from the working professionals class. The winners received both prize money and certificates.
Chief Judge Ahn Hyejong commented, "The teaching abilities of these prospective teachers were exceptionally impressive. If field-centered education continues, they will be able to grow into excellent early childhood educators."
Department Chair Jwa Seunghwa stated, "This event was an opportunity to witness the passion and creativity of our students. We will continue to strengthen practice-oriented education and offer a variety of programs to further develop their professionalism and practical skills."
The Department of Early Childhood Education at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology is continuously expanding diverse teaching and learning methods and practice-linked programs to nurture field-ready talent, focusing on enhancing students' research capabilities and educational expertise.
