Daewoo Engineering & Construction Appoints Louvre Architect Wilmotte as General Director for Gaepo Reconstruction

Daewoo Engineering & Construction announced on June 26 that it will collaborate with overseas expert groups from various fields during the reconstruction of the Gaepo Woosung 7th Apartment complex in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. In the ongoing bidding process for the construction contract, Daewoo Engineering & Construction proposed the new apartment complex name as "Summit Pranity" and unveiled its plan to develop the project as a high-end residential complex.

The overall director for the project is French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte. Wilmotte has led modernization projects for French architectural landmarks such as the Louvre Museum and the ?lys?e Palace. In Korea, he has participated in major local landmark projects including the Gana Art Center in Pyeongchang-dong and Incheon International Airport.

The structural design segment involves Bollinger+Grohmann, a German group with 42 years of global project experience. According to Daewoo Engineering & Construction, the group has strengths in non-standard architecture, digital parametric design, and sustainable structural solutions. Their previous projects include the Rolex Learning Center in Lausanne, Switzerland, the roof structure of the Busan Cinema Center, and a chapel project in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi-do designed by Tadao Ando.

For landscaping, Byron Landscape Design Lab will participate, while the community sector will involve WGNB?a space creator group known for projects such as Kyobo Bookstore and the Junji flagship store?and SWNA, a spatial design group that gained fame for designing the medals for the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics. In addition, interior design group Hyunwoo Design, indoor lighting company Root Perception, accessory company Design Yeom, and media art agency d'strict will also be involved in the project.
