Compensation for Airline Ticket Cancellation Penalties Due to Reasons Such as Pregnancy, Illness, or Natural Disasters

Hana Tour announced on June 26 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance and launched an insurance product that compensates for airline ticket cancellation penalties.

The airline ticket cancellation penalty compensation insurance is a product that allows customers to receive compensation for refund penalties if they have to cancel their airline tickets due to sudden personal circumstances.
Through this business agreement, Hana Tour will sell the airline ticket cancellation penalty compensation insurance provided by Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance on its official website and app. Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance will be responsible for operating the insurance product, as well as handling customer consultations and compensation claims.
Customers who book round-trip airline tickets or the "My Choice" Air+Hotel package through the official Hana Tour website or app are eligible to enroll in the insurance. Enrollment is available immediately during the ticket purchase process, or can be added later in the "My Benefits" section of My Page if there are more than 30 days remaining before the flight departure date.
Policyholders can receive compensation for penalties if they cancel their airline tickets due to any of the following reasons: ▲ the death of a relative within the third degree of kinship ▲ hospitalization of the policyholder or their spouse's immediate family members ▲ injury or illness of the policyholder that results in a doctor's recommendation not to travel, or pregnancy of the policyholder or their spouse ▲ being summoned domestically or required to serve as a juror ▲ job change ▲ natural disasters at the travel destination. In addition, if all members of a travel party are enrolled in the insurance, the entire group can claim compensation for penalties if any one member qualifies for one of these reasons.
The scope of compensation covers the travel agency's refund fees and the airline's refund penalties, excluding ticket issuance agency fees. The airline's refund penalties vary depending on the airline's cancellation fare policy. Customers can submit the required documents and file claims in the "My Benefits" section of My Page on the official Hana Tour website or app.
A Hana Tour representative stated, "We launched the cancellation penalty compensation insurance to reduce customer inconvenience caused by cancellation penalties and to help travelers prepare for their trips without worrying about unexpected situations." The representative added, "We have enhanced customer convenience by providing a user-friendly UI·UX and streamlining the insurance claim process, enabling one-stop compensation from enrollment to claim."
