Born in 1930, Chairman Kwon told Yonhap News, "Today, I made five birdies, one eagle, and two bogeys, finishing with a score of 70," adding, "Even these days, I often play golf with journalists who used to cover the Blue House and other acquaintances."

He shared an update on his life, saying, "I have always loved sports so much that I used to box, play basketball, baseball, and do judo when I was young, and that's why I still enjoy playing golf in good health."

Chairman Kwon, who was once a high school English teacher, said that he completed a master's program at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies more than 10 years ago and began a doctoral program in English literature at the same university two years ago, which he has now completed with the end of this semester. He added that he will receive his doctorate once he completes his dissertation. Chairman Kwon enrolled in the graduate English literature program at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in 2011 and received his master's degree in English literature in 2013 at the age of 83, setting the record as the oldest master's degree recipient at the university at the time.

Chairman Kwon entered politics as a political ally of the late former President Kim Daejung and, from the 1960s, served closely as secretary, special advisor, and chief of staff, earning the title "leader of the Donggyodong faction." He was elected as a member of the 13th National Assembly in 1988 and served three terms through the 15th Assembly. He has also held positions such as Chairman of the Council for the Promotion of Democracy, Senior Advisor to the Democratic Party, and President of the Dongguk University Alumni Association. In 2001, he received the Martin Luther King Freedom and Human Rights Award.
