Visit to Gwangwon ENG, a Refrigerator Component Manufacturer

Jongho Kim, Chairman of the Korea Technology Finance Corporation, announced that on the 25th, he visited Gwangwon ENG, a manufacturer of refrigerator components located in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, and held a business site meeting.

This meeting was organized to listen to the on-site challenges faced by technology-based small and venture businesses, and to discuss institutional improvements and policy recommendations to promote research and development (R&D) and investment in outstanding technology companies. The corporation also reviewed the achievements in low-carbon transition and technological innovation that companies have accomplished through the support of its green finance programs, while exploring ways to further expand customized support in the future.

Gwangwon ENG is a leading technology innovator in the field of electronic components, specializing in the manufacture of doors and panels for refrigerators. The company holds multiple patents and ISO9001 quality certification. After being recognized as a venture business in 2022, it obtained INNOBIZ (technological innovation-type small and medium enterprise) certification this year, and has recently expanded its business into new industries such as electric vehicle rapid chargers and dehumidifiers.

The Korea Technology Finance Corporation has highly evaluated Gwangwon ENG’s technological capabilities and innovation-driven growth, providing tailored guarantee programs covering the entire technology commercialization cycle, including preferential guarantees for smart factories, Albatross guarantees to overcome the death valley period, and facility fund guarantees for machinery acquisition. To support green growth, the corporation has also provided carbon value evaluation guarantees, and last year selected Gwangwon ENG as a company included in the Green Asset-Backed Securities (G-ABS) program, which was newly introduced by the corporation, thus offering opportunities for direct financing.

Jongho Kim, Chairman of the Korea Technology Finance Corporation, stated, “The corporation has strengthened its comprehensive support system so that small and venture businesses can pursue both green industry transition and technological innovation.” He added, “This year, we are launching new guarantee products specialized in the green sector and building an exclusive M&A platform for small and venture businesses, making the growth ladder for companies even more robust.”

He further remarked, “Going forward, we will continue to expand policy support that actively reflects the voices from the field, enabling companies to respond more proactively to changes in the external environment, and as a public institution, we will fulfill our role as a catalyst for private sector-led innovation.”
