This agreement was established in response to the continuous increase in the number of foreign workers in industrial sites within the Gwangyang Bay area, with the aim of building a practical support system for protecting their human rights, supporting their stable living, and helping them adapt to the local community.
The main points of the agreement include support for Korean language education and cultural programs for foreign workers, protection of their legal rights and provision of legal counseling services, health protection and medical services, as well as job placement services and educational program support.
Koo Chungon, Commissioner of the Gwangyang FEZ Authority, stated, "As the number of foreign workers entering the Gwangyang Bay area continues to rise, it is extremely important to support them so that they can live stable lives as key members of our community. Through this agreement, we will work closely with the Support Center to create an environment where foreign workers can contribute to the local economy and settle happily."
