Governor Jin Byungyoung Attends Janguhoe Extraordinary General Meeting and Engages in Dialogue

Communication Bridging Tradition and the Future

Hamyang County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on June 26 that an extraordinary general meeting of the "Janguhoe," an association of former leaders of Hamyang Hyanggyo, was held at Myeongryundang in Hamyang Hyanggyo.


More than 50 members attended the meeting, including Jang Mun-sang, president of Janguhoe. County Governor Jin Byungyoung was also present, where he explained key county government issues and engaged in discussions with the members.

During the "Conversation with the Governor" session, the county shared major achievements and progress on campaign pledges over the three years of the 8th popularly elected administration, measures to address population decline, plans to expand welfare for senior citizens, and the free bus policy, among other core issues.


Governor Jin emphasized that the county currently provides up to 136 million won per person from childbirth through youth, and plans to expand this support to the largest scale in the country in the future.


He also announced that starting in July, bus fares will be fully waived for residents aged 65 and older, as well as for children and youth aged 18 and under. Additionally, from 2026, the county will completely overhaul its bus routes to further support transportation for vulnerable groups.


Alongside these initiatives, he introduced policies to boost local tourism, such as the "Orego Hamyang" mountain climbing certification project, the "Hamyang Tourism BEST 39," and the proclamation of "Visit Hamyang Year 2026."


Governor Jin Byungyoung stated, "Together with the members of Janguhoe, we will achieve a new leap forward where the traditions and future of Hamyang harmoniously blend," and asked for continued attention and warm support for the county government.
