The 2025 Gwangju Future Industry Expo, the largest industrial exhibition in the Honam region, opened on the afternoon of June 25 at the Kim Daejung Convention Center. This year's expo features participation from more than 270 domestic and international companies, operating a total of 570 booths to showcase the latest technologies and products in future industries.
Mayor Kang Gijung stated, "This expo is a meaningful event where visitors can see the achievements of Gwangju's cutting-edge future industries, such as future mobility, home appliances and robotics, and drones and the root industry, all of which the city has carefully nurtured." He added, "Going forward, we will make thorough preparations to develop Gwangju into South Korea's leading future mobility city, in line with the AI-converged future mobility revolution pursued by the Lee Jaemyung administration."
Mayor Kang also emphasized, "This year's expo is organized as an 'AI-Converged Mobility Tech Exhibition,' allowing visitors to see the latest products and technology trends from innovative companies." He noted, "Through this, we aim to lay the foundation for attracting businesses and fostering the growth of local industries."
Following the opening ceremony, attendees toured the booths of major companies in the exhibition hall, experiencing advanced technologies firsthand. In particular, the Tech Hall, featuring Hyundai Motor Company and Kia, drew significant attention with displays such as AMR and MPR (logistics mobility robots), which are core elements in building next-generation software-defined factories (SDF), as well as customized vehicles (PV5) and models of vertical take-off and landing UAM (future air mobility).
During the exhibition period, an export consultation event co-hosted by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and the Gwangju Regional Office of the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency will be held, supporting outstanding local participants in expanding their domestic and international sales channels.
A variety of hands-on content for citizens has also been prepared. Activities include autonomous vehicle test rides, drone soccer, 3D printing experiences, robot cooking demonstrations, and EV vehicle displays, providing entertainment for all age groups.
Additionally, the expo features a promotional booth for the "Visit Gwangju Year" campaign, prize events at company booths, and merchandise discount sales, all designed to encourage public participation and enjoyment. As side events, the "2025 Gwangju Together JOB Festa," a job fair for youth, middle-aged individuals, and women returning to the workforce, will be held on June 26, and on June 28, the nation's largest robot competition and a special AI lecture by science influencer Heo Seongbeom are scheduled.
The 2025 Gwangju Future Industry Expo will run for four days until June 28. General admission hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and entry is free for all visitors. On the opening day, June 25, the expo will remain open until 8 p.m. for evening viewing.
