This event was organized to mark the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War. It was attended by Suhyun Kang, mayor of Yangju City; Changcheol Yoon, chairman of the Yangju City Council; Korean War veterans and their families; leaders and members of veterans' and security organizations; as well as various other dignitaries, who all expressed deep remembrance and gratitude toward those who defended the nation.
The ceremony began with a pre-event performance by the Yangju City Choir, followed by a security video screening, the national ceremony, commendations for distinguished individuals, commemorative addresses, and a group singing of the Korean War song.
In particular, this year’s ceremony was a meaningful occasion for citizens to join in remembering the contributions of the veterans who overcame the pain of war and helped build today’s Republic of Korea.
In his commemorative address, Mayor Suhyun Kang stated, "We must strive to make the free Republic of Korea, preserved through the noble sacrifices of our national heroes, an even better and more beautiful country to live in." He added, "Yangju City will do its utmost to honor the patriotism, courage, and fighting spirit of the veterans who gave their lives for freedom and peace, ensuring they receive the respect they deserve."
