This certification is part of the "Community-based Crime Prevention Environment Creation Project," which is led by the police in collaboration with local governments and public institutions. It is drawing attention as a public-private partnership model that expands the local community's crime prevention capabilities to the private sector.
The newly certified Gupyeong Parking Lot received high marks for its excellent security features, including an access control system, high-definition CCTV, and a well-lit environment. The previously certified Geumocheon Public Parking Lot also demonstrated a sustainable management system by obtaining recertification.
The "Outstanding Crime Prevention Facility Certification System" is a program that targets multi-use facilities such as parking lots and parks. It aims to enhance residents' sense of safety by identifying crime-prone factors in advance and encouraging facility improvements.
In particular, this certification, based on CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) principles, focuses on creating an environment where citizens can use facilities with peace of mind in their daily lives.
Kim Dongwook, Chief of Gumi Police Station, stated, "This certification is another milestone for a safer city, Gumi, created together with citizens," adding, "We will continue to expand crime prevention infrastructure through close cooperation with the local community."
Gumi Police Station plans to further expand crime prevention assessments and environmental improvements, focusing on public facilities in the region, and to strengthen community-centered preventive policing.
