75th Anniversary Commemoration Event Held at Eastern Regional Headquarters

On June 25, Jeonnam Province held a commemorative event at the Eastern Regional Headquarters to mark the 75th anniversary of the Korean War, honoring the patriotic spirit of the war veterans.
The ceremony was attended by approximately 360 people, including Myung Changhwan, Vice Governor of Jeonnam Province, Jung Gwanghyun, Deputy Mayor of Suncheon, veterans, and bereaved families. The event proceeded in the following order: awarding of commendations to veterans, commemorative address, recitation of a tribute poem, commemorative performance, and group singing of the Korean War song.
In particular, during the recitation of the tribute poem, an officer from Unit 7391 read a poem expressing respect and gratitude to senior veterans who dedicated themselves to the nation on the battlefield, making the moment especially meaningful.
In his commemorative address, Vice Governor Myung Changhwan stated, "Thanks to the blood and sweat of the war veterans, the Republic of Korea has risen to become one of the world's top ten economic powers." He added, "Until the opening of the first national cemetery in the Jeonnam region, the National Jangheung Patriots Cemetery, we will continue to honor and carefully care for the remains of fallen patriots at the temporary facility in Haenam, doing our utmost to uphold and respect the patriotic spirit of the veterans."
He went on to emphasize, "Together with the new government, we will pave a new path for peace on the Korean Peninsula and, with the Honam Unification Plus Center as a hub, we will also work to promote inter-Korean exchange."
In commemoration of Patriots and Veterans Month in June, Jeonnam Province is organizing a variety of events, including patriotic pilgrimages for veterans' organizations, visits to veterans' families, and a security photo exhibition in the lobby of the Jeonnam Provincial Office.
