On June 25, Judge Beom Sunyoon of the Suncheon Branch of the Gwangju District Court sentenced A (48), who was indicted for violating the Act on Electronic Device Attachment, to one year in prison. The court stated, "It is recognized that the defendant committed the crime in a planned manner, such as purchasing a cutter and damaging the electronic monitoring bracelet only four months after being released from prison."

On March 30 at 12:51 p.m., A damaged his electronic monitoring bracelet at a large supermarket in Yeocheon-dong, Yeosu, Jeollanam-do, and fled. He then used a taxi and a bus to move around, but was apprehended by police the next morning in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province. He was under electronic monitoring after serving a sentence for robbery in the past.
