On June 25, at a press conference held in the main auditorium of the provincial office of education to mark his 11th anniversary in office, Superintendent Park was asked about his intentions to run in next year's local elections.

Previously, during the New Year, when rumors circulated about his potential candidacy for governor, he had said, "If I am given a role in any situation, and if that is the role I am supposed to take, then I will take on that role."
On this day, Superintendent Park responded, "I have recently decided to remain fully committed to my duties as superintendent until the very last day of my term on June 30, 2026."
He went on to emphasize, "Instead of education that drives children to the edge, I will spend the remaining year of my term meaningfully as superintendent, persuading members of the educational community to create enjoyable and happy schools, to provide education that saves children, and to pursue education that saves the planet."
