On June 25, Pohang City held the "75th Anniversary of the Korean War" event at Daejam Hall in City Hall, honoring the noble sacrifices of veterans who dedicated themselves to the nation.

The event was co-hosted by the city and the Pohang branch of the Korean War Veterans Association (Chairman Lee Chunsul). More than 500 people attended, including Deputy Mayor Jang Sangkil, City Council Chairman Kim Ilman, Korean War veterans, their families, and heads of various organizations and institutions.


The ceremony began with the screening of a video related to the Korean War. This was followed by the entrance of the national flag, the UN flag, and the flags of the 22 participating nations, creating a meaningful scene that commemorated global solidarity and sacrifice.


The event continued in a solemn and reverent atmosphere with commendations for meritorious persons, a retrospective address, the recitation of a dedicatory poem, the singing of the Korean War song and military songs, and three cheers for the nation.

As part of the side events, the Pohang City Veterans Association Women’s Committee and Youth Group organized a combat ration experience and a national defense photo exhibition, helping students and citizens better understand the Korean War and reminding them of the value of freedom and peace.


Jang Sangkil, Deputy Mayor of Pohang City, said, "We honor the spirits of those who gave their lives to protect the nation and freedom, and I extend my deepest respect and gratitude to each and every veteran." He added, "We will do our utmost to ensure that our history is accurately conveyed to future generations and to create a society where the honor of national merit recipients and their families is respected."
