Over 1,800 Participants in Five Divisions Nationwide
A Midsummer Baseball Festival Heats Up Yeongdeok
The 2025 STAY Yeongdeok Baseball Camp, hosted and organized by the Yeongdeok County Baseball and Softball Association (represented by Lee Hyunwoo) and sponsored by Yeongdeok County, opened on June 24 and will feature intense competition until July 13.
This camp is a summer sports festival with more than 1,800 athletes and officials from 65 teams nationwide participating. It consists of five sections: the University Club Championship, Youth Camp, Junior Camp, Amateur Championship, and University Student Idea Contest.
In particular, the event is expected to make a significant contribution to intergenerational communication through sports and to the expansion of the local sports culture base, as it combines both popularity and professionalism and encompasses all generations from youth to adults.
Yeongdeok County and the association plan to provide not only high-quality games through thorough tournament preparation but also a variety of side events, offering residents and tourists a wealth of things to see and enjoy.
In addition, through this event, they aim to achieve three strategic goals: promoting local sports infrastructure, revitalizing stay-type tourism, and discovering baseball talent. At the same time, they plan to invigorate the local economy based on the successful operation of the tournament.
Kim Kwangyeol, the county governor, stated, "We are doing our utmost in preparing and operating the tournament so that this camp, where nature and baseball come together, will provide participants with unforgettable memories and contribute to increasing the local population and revitalizing the economy. We will continue to discover sports tourism content that anyone can enjoy, regardless of age or sport, and nurture it as a new cultural asset for Yeongdeok."
