Rainbow Bridge~Samhwa Island~Haeoreum Overpass: A Panorama of Light
"Fostering a Stay-Type Tourism Hub... Boosting the Local Economy"
Gwangyang City, South Jeolla Province (Mayor Jung Inhwa), has completed the installation of landscape lighting on Samhwa Island and the Dalbit Beach area as part of the 'Haebichiro Samhwa Island Tourism Attraction Project,' adding the finishing touch to Gwangyang's dazzling nightscape that shines both day and night.
On June 25, the city announced that it had installed various landscape lighting features in the Dalbit Beach area, centering on Samhwa Island, which is the core waterfront space of Haebichiro. The installations include moving lights, media fa?ades, plum tree lights, and lighting for the character sculpture 'Maedori.'
With this, a fantastic panorama of lights now stretches across the Dalbit Beach area, connecting the Rainbow Bridge linking Geumho-dong and Samhwa Island, as well as the Haeoreum Overpass connecting Samhwa Island and Jungma-dong.
The city plans to swiftly complete the remaining sections of the Dalbit Beach project. In addition, the area will be developed as a space where visitors can walk while enjoying views of the sea, and will be transformed into a complex cultural space where people can enjoy emotional content such as busking, media art, and food trucks.
Furthermore, the city plans to maximize the synergy with the urban nightscape by building a tourism cluster that links the Baegunsan area and the Seomjingang area, and to foster this region as a key hub for stay-type tourism.
Kim Miran, head of the Gwangyang City Tourism Division, stated, "From Samhwa Island, which connects Jungma-dong and Geumho-dong, you can enjoy a panoramic view of four bridges?including Yi Sunshin Bridge?set against the backdrop of Gwangyang Bay, and the splendid waves of light reflected along the 9.4-kilometer Haebichiro waterfront. We aim to make this an attractive waterfront space for citizens to enjoy in their daily lives, as well as a nightscape attraction that draws tourists to the city center, thereby revitalizing the local economy through stay-type tourism."
Meanwhile, the four bridges?Yi Sunshin Bridge, Gilho Bridge, Gilho Railway Bridge, and Geumho Bridge?and the Haebichiro section have emerged as competitive nighttime landscape resources, as the installation of coastal landscape lighting under the '2024 Sunshine Beach Park Development Project' has been completed, making them essential stops on the Gwangyang City Tour night tour.
