MOU Signed for Buyeo Guyam District Urban Development Project
Cooperation to Balance Urban Growth and Cultural Heritage Preservation
On June 25, Buyeo County in South Chungcheong Province announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on June 24 in the county governor's office with the National Buyeo Cultural Heritage Research Institute and Kosan Gongyeong Co., Ltd. to establish a cooperative framework for the Buyeo Guyam District Urban Development Project.
The purpose of this agreement is for the three organizations to cooperate in order to ensure the stable implementation of the Guyam District urban development project and to harmonize it with the protection of cultural heritage.
The MOU includes provisions for securing stability in urban development, creating a pleasant development environment, promoting public contribution projects, installing screening facilities to protect the independence of the research institute, supporting green spaces for the institute, and providing administrative support from Buyeo County in case of any issues.
In particular, regarding the development of mountainous areas near the research institute, the parties agreed to prioritize the safety of local residents and to respond to any future conflicts through close consultation.
Park Junghyun, the county governor, stated, "This agreement is a symbolic example of promoting people-centered urban development in balance with the preservation of cultural heritage," and added, "We will bring about changes that local residents can truly feel."
The Buyeo Guyam District Urban Development Project is a high-rise branded apartment construction project with a total of 720 units. Currently, South Chungcheong Province has announced the designation of the urban development zone and the development plan.
The apartments will consist of 517 units with an exclusive area of 112 square meters and 203 units with an exclusive area of 129 square meters, with the goal of moving in by December 2027 as the project moves forward in earnest.
Meanwhile, through this agreement, the county plans to create a safe and harmonious residential area in the Guyam District, based on cooperation with the Cultural Heritage Research Institute, and to develop a future-oriented urban space where historical value and modernity coexist.
