The Yongin city government announced that, in accordance with the "voluntary agreement to reduce the use of disposable cups" signed in March with the Ministry of Environment and Samsung C&T Resort Division, it will implement the use of reusable cups for takeaway beverages sold at stores inside Everland from this day onward.
This implementation of reusable cups is part of Yongin City's efforts to promote eco-friendly consumption and resource circulation. Since this year, the city has restricted the use of disposable cups in government offices, and is now expanding this initiative to the private sector.
Everland will gradually expand the use of reusable cups not only at its directly operated beverage stores but also at other stores within the park. Starting from July 1, the use of reusable cups will also be extended to Caribbean Bay.
To help alleviate the initial transition costs for small business owners operating within Everland, the city, together with the Ministry of Environment, provided a total of 100 million won in support, including 50 million won from the national government and 50 million won from the city budget.
Lee Sangil, mayor of Yongin, stated, "We will actively develop policies for carbon neutrality and reducing single-use products in order to realize a resource-circulating society and to encourage citizens' interest and participation in eco-friendly initiatives."
