Geochang County Holds Evaluation Meeting for "Geochang On Spring Festival"

Reviewing the Achievements of This Year's First Integrated Spring Festival
and Sharing Directions for Improvement

Geochang County, South Gyeongsang Province, announced on the 25th that it held an evaluation meeting for the 'Geochang On Spring Festival' in the county office situation room, attended by Vice Governor Lee Byungcheol, key senior officials, and relevant department heads. During the meeting, they reviewed the overall achievements of this year's spring festival, which was integrated and operated for the first time, and shared directions for improvement.

The festival, held for four days from May 15 to 18 at Geochang Changpowon, featured a variety of events including the 6th Geochang Arimia Flower Festival, the 6th Geochang Hansanyangsam Festival, the 2025 Geochang Meditation·Vegan Festival, the 2nd Geochang County National Drone Soccer Tournament, and the 2nd Changpowon Barefoot Walking Event. These diverse festivals and events enriched the spring in Geochang, attracting about 40,000 visitors and concluding successfully without any safety incidents.

This festival achieved positive results such as strengthening the image of Changpowon as a tourism hub, increasing the proportion of external tourists compared to other festivals, and revitalizing the local economy and commercial districts. It was especially meaningful as it was Geochang County's first integrated spring festival, accomplished through collaboration among multiple departments.

However, several areas for improvement were identified: upgrading infrastructure such as parking spaces at Changpowon to accommodate tourists, addressing the lack of unity between the healing and Changpo themes and the absence of core content, developing programs that break away from existing formats, and expanding transportation services.

Vice Governor Lee Byungcheol stated, "Despite being the first attempt at an integrated spring festival, the event concluded safely thanks to interdepartmental cooperation and active participation from residents, which is a significant achievement." He urged, "Please make every effort to actively incorporate the identified improvements so that next year's spring festival can be even more substantial and distinguished."

Meanwhile, based on the results of this evaluation, Geochang County plans to further systematize preparations for accommodating tourists ahead of the upcoming 2026 Geochang Visit Year. The county will also work on strategies to establish key regional brands, such as pursuing national garden designation for Changpowon and developing content linked to the healing industry special zone.
