"Nothing Has Been Decided Yet"
The "Police Warrant Prosecutor" system, which aims to change the current warrant request process, has been reported to the National Policy Planning Committee.
According to the National Policy Planning Committee and other sources on June 24, the National Police Agency presented a plan to establish the Police Warrant Prosecutor system during a business report on June 20. This system would allow the police to independently request warrants.
The core of the plan is to revise the National Police Agency Act to grant the status of "police prosecutor" to lawyers affiliated with the National Police Agency, enabling them to request warrants. The Police Warrant Prosecutor system has mainly been discussed as an alternative within academic circles.
However, the National Police Agency announced to the media on the same day that "nothing has been decided yet."
