The opening ceremony was attended by approximately 300 Seongnam citizens, including Mayor Seong Sangjin, members of the National Assembly, members of the Provincial and City Councils, and residents of Sunae-dong. The event featured a congratulatory performance by the Seongnam City Choir, commemorative speeches, an unveiling ceremony, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
In his remarks, Mayor Seong expressed his gratitude to everyone who worked for nine years to ensure that a state-of-the-art library for citizens could be established in the forest of Sunae-dong. He also stated that, given the current trend of people becoming more distant from books, he finds it especially meaningful that a library has been created in close proximity to local residents.
He went on to say that he would continue to improve the surrounding environment to enhance the quality of life for citizens and to foster the development of talented individuals. He also pledged to provide continuously modernized spaces that meet the needs of Seongnam citizens through ongoing innovation.
Sunae Library is a multi-cultural complex where citizens can enjoy reading in nature. It is equipped with various user-tailored themed facilities, including a resource room for infants and children, a video editing room for creative activities, and a theater for all. It is a space where people of all generations can enjoy knowledge, culture, and creativity.
