Sejong Mayor Minho Choi has called for exploring sustainable directions that can ensure responsibility for future generations, emphasizing that the city is at a turning point to be reborn as a new Sejong following the launch of the new government.

On the 24th, Mayor Choi presided over the expanded executive meeting and stated, "There are research findings indicating that the population of South Korea will decrease by about 17 million over the next 30 years." He added, "Already this year, only three students enrolled at Yeondong Elementary School, and there are only two second graders, which shows that local extinction due to population decline has already begun."

He also expressed concern about the heavy burden of support that future generations will have to bear as the population continues to decrease.

He said, "If the National Pension Fund is depleted due to aging and population decline, young people will gradually lose the support systems they can rely on. This is why we must listen to the voices of future generations and actively incorporate their opinions."

He also emphasized that the policy proposal submitted to the National Policy Planning Committee of the new government, which contains 44 tasks across seven major areas, includes a vision and strategy for the centennial plan of the administrative capital.

Mayor Choi stated, "Our city's policy proposal is not merely a regional plan for Sejong, but was written from the perspective of the administrative capital to promote national development. As the completion of the administrative capital leads to the growth of South Korea, I hope the policy proposals will be smoothly reflected."

He also instructed officials to seek ways for sports facilities to continuously change and develop in line with the needs of citizens who enjoy recreational sports. Noting that sports trends change periodically and that facilities must be renovated or expanded according to demand, he also asked for a comprehensive review and adjustment of fees for recreational sports to promote citizens' health.
