Suncheon City in South Jeolla Province (Mayor Noh Kwan-kyu) announced on the 24th that it had received the Best Award for Carbon Neutrality Practice in Administration at the Carbon Neutrality Implementation Capacity Building Workshop, which was recently held at The Ocean Resort in Yeosu.

The carbon neutrality assessment was organized by South Jeolla Province, focusing on the realization of the 2050 South Jeolla Carbon Neutrality Vision and government joint evaluation indicators. The evaluation consisted of six indicators, including carbon neutrality practice campaigns, the public sector greenhouse gas target management system, the carbon neutrality points system, and the supply of eco-friendly vehicles. The review of outstanding cases of carbon neutrality was also conducted in parallel.

The city was recognized as a leading city in carbon neutrality for its efforts, including conducting publicity and education to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and encouraging citizen participation, and was selected as the Best Award recipient. In particular, at the workshop, the city presented an outstanding case of the "Carbon Neutrality Climate Change Response SNS Event" it had implemented.

Mayor Noh Kwan-kyu said, "It is very meaningful that our city's commitment and efforts toward transitioning to a carbon-neutral society have been recognized," adding, "We will continue to make ongoing efforts together with citizens to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050."
